March gave us more snow, some beautiful spring days, five puppies and two lambs! A pretty good start to spring all and all.

Fibre Works Alpacas:  Moonshine is off being halter trained just now.  Between lamb checks and puppies chores, we haven't been able to spend too much time working with him.  He will likely go to some shows this year so learning some manners is important.  Linda will be attending the Round Up at High Plains Alpacas in Saskatoon in April, giving a seminar on fleece assessment and an update on the Co-op progress.  The Co-op is coming along, slowly but surely.  Some educational materials and shearing/sorting/grading information are being put together along with a business plan and operational guide.

Fibre Works Shetlands: Fiona had her lambs much later than we expected, March 24.  She has given us a very nice ewe lamb that may be grey and a very mellow ram lamb that may be black.  We will have to wait a bit longer to be sure about the colours.  Our next ewes are due April 5.

Fibre, Yarn and the Fibre Works GalleryWe have most of our Shetland rovings back so now it is just a matter of getting all of the details entered in the Gallery.  The lamb roving and lamb and alpaca roving is exceptionally nice.  We also had some coarser fibre made up into rovings for felting and locker hooking.  We have black, grey and dark brown rovings to choose from.  Look for them in the Gallery in the near future.

Bergen Norwegian Buhunds:   Treva had her puppies on March 9.  It was a fairly easy labour as these things go and the hardest part was over in about three hours.  We now have two little girls and three little boys keeping her company in the whelping box.  They are growing like crazy and are starting to develop distinct personalities.  They are very cute and it will be very hard to say goodbye to them when it is time for them to go to their new homes.  Treva is quite attentive and keeps them all polished up and clean.   Tjalfi just wants them to get big enough to play with.

Farm Stuff: The electrician has finished the critical wiring in the barn so now we can get going on the plumbing, etc.   Such a relief to get that over with.  Still lots of electrical work to be done, but none of it will hold us up.  We should be able to get the heat in the barn just in time for the warm weather when we have to turn to outside chores.  Oh well, the cold will come again fast enough and we will get back to the interior work when it does.
